At the time, Mojang announced Part 1 of the update would come during summer 2021 and Minecraft Caves & Cliffs Part 2 would hit some time during holiday 2021.
Given how many other games have been delayed because of complications around the pandemic, the news wasn't too surprising. The decision was made due to a combination of Minecraft Caves & Cliffs update's size and the difficulty of developing a game during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in April 2021, the team at Mojang made the decision to delay the heavily anticipated update and split it into two parts. Originally, Minecraft Caves & Cliffs was meant to be a unified release.
That's great news for fans of the mega-popular sandbox title, but many want to know when to expect the anticipated Minecraft Caves & Cliffs Part 2 update. Mojang announced on May 31 that the long-awaited Caves & Cliffs update for Minecraft is coming on June 8.
